Blasting Today . . .

The quarry has announced that it will be blasting today, December 15, 2016 between 3 and 4 pm. We just got the notice THIS MORNING! If you feel effects from this, or are concerned, or feel that the quarry is not meeting the code regulations, I suggest you file complaints with:

  • Person in charge of assuring that the current quarry operates within code regulations:Joe Barto, DPER Joe.Barto@kingcounty.gov
Please note that Fred White retired January 3, 2017
  • Kathy Lambert, King County Councilperson for Fall City kathy.lambert@kingcounty.gov
  • Person in charge of quarry permit expansion: Fereshteh Dehkordi, Project Manager, DPER fereshteh.dehkordi@kingcounty.gov
  • Please copy us in (it is helpful for us to keep track of the ongoing issues):

Please talk to your friends and neighbors about the quarry and its proposed expansion! The quarry has not been following the King County noise ordinance, and have routinely not followed other ordinances which are outlined on our website or send us an email if you have questions.

***********************************************************************

The bigger picture: if the proposed expansion happens, it will forever scar the landscape along the Raging River, potentially damage prime salmon spawning habitat, add up to 120 dump trucks a day driving through our roads, potentially add rock dust to our air.

Thank you for your support

Please note the ANSWER from DPER regarding property issues:
24._The quarry operator shall be responsible for any damage to nearby properties, including domestic water supply wells, attributable to blasting on the subject property. Claims for any such damage shall be the responsibility of the affected property owner and the quarry operator to handle directly between themselves, but a failure of the quarry operator to respond in good faith to any such claim may be cause for denial of future grading permits, or prohibition or restriction upon future blasting.
